Today, Oscar qualified for the next swimming class, by dog-paddling 5 metres and floating on his back (not at the same time, of course). I understand this achievement entitles him to advance from Not Drowning 101 to Not Panicking While Not Drowning 102.

In all seriousness, we (parents and sister) are very proud of him, but after almost daily visits to the grandparents' pool over Christmas, the outcome was not surprising. Not to be outdone, Adeline proved that she could do the same, but apparently she kicks and paddles like a girl less forcefully, so she will stay where she is to develop more confidence and technique.
